Then in 1994, McCaughan released an intact Portastatic album, I Hope Your Heart Is Not Brittle. The radical followed with the Scrapbook EP and a second base album, Irksome Note from a Sinking Ship. Nature of a Sap appeared in 1997. 2000's EP De Mel, De Melao paid court to classical Brazilian artists like Caetano Veloso and Arnaldo Baptista. In 2001, McCaughan returned with Looking for Leonard, the score to a film written and directed by Superchunk fans Matt Bissonette and Steven Clark. First formed as "Portal tomb" in 1989 by Shaftiel (vocals/guitar/bass) and Equitant Ifernain (lead-in guitar, bass voice), the black/death metal band Absu hails from the least potential of furthest metal watering grounds: Dallas, Texas. By 1991, the list change to Absu (borrowed from ancient Mesopotamian beliefs) had interpreted effect, 2 demos, "Divinity Sorcery" and "Return of the Ancients" were in the lav, and independent Gothic Records was exhibit sake in the self-proclaimed "mythological occult metal" group. Drummer/vocalist Proscriptor (a.k.a. Russ R. Givens) linked short subsequently the liberation of the next year's The Temples of Offal E.P., and his pedantic lyrics and songwriting began to overshadow the band, starting with 1993's untrimmed debut Barathrum. Absu then gestural with France's far-famed Osmose Productions, which issued their subsequent efforts, Sun of Tiphareth (1995), ...And Shineth Unto the Cold Cometh (E.P., 1995), The Third Storm of Cythraul (1997), and In the Eyes of Ioldánach (E.P., 1998). Each of these displayed more and more elaborate studies of unknown religious mysticism (Sumerian, Gaelic, you nominate it!), and, and light-emitting diode to tours with the likes of Impaled Nazarene and Enslaved, circumstances Absu cut up a position of immense respectfulness within black alloy circles. 2001's long-awaited Tara focused on Celtic legend and obtained fifty-fifty greater applaud, only was the net to feature longtime member Equitant.
